The time when mussels are harvested affects their quality significantly, so we’ve verified the best time to harvest in each bay. Traditionally, GLM is freeze-dried 
for extraction over 24 – 48 hours, with prolonged high heat levels. This damages the delicate active ingredients, resulting in a much less effective product. Our specific extraction process and rigorous testing of our ActivEase® GLM allow us to deliver this unique fatty acid profile, including Omega-3s, EPA, DHA, and Eicosatetraenoic Acid 
(ETA), which is specially selected to have higher bioactivity.*

Delivering clinical proof

Over the last 40 years, circa 150 publications have been written on the health benefits 
of GLM. From the wealth of scientific literature available, it is easy to pick examples of poor studies or studies using low levels or poor-quality GLM. However, several well-designed double-blind, placebo-controlled studies have been conducted in dogs (Bierer 
& Bui, 2002; Bui & Bierer, 2003; Hielm-Bjorkman et al, 2013). For those interested, a broader literature review has also been published (Eason et al, 2018). The scientific understanding provided by Bierer & Bui was used in the early development of the composition and processing standards required for ActivEase® GLM. The subsequent double-blind, placebo-controlled, objectively measured canine clinical study conducted 
by the Royal Veterinary College (data on file) further cemented those standards, 
ensuring that ActivEase® GLM can consistently deliver.
